"Why I am running for Lake County District 1 Supervisor" 
Lake County faces many challenges these days. We are confronting a stagnant economy, high unemployment, crumbling infrastructure, the end of redevelopment, the impending retirement of county administrator Kelly Cox, and state and federal budget cuts. Chronic damage to Clear Lake and its watershed is undercutting the foundations of our visitor-based economy, and local agriculture struggles to compete in a changing world.

To survive and thrive in these times we need creative, innovative leaders who are willing to think outside the lines and find fresh solutions. To be sustainable and valid in the long run, those solutions must be economically viable, environmentally sound, and socially equitable, and must build on the wonderful assets our community has already. Our great natural beauty, healthy living conditions, rural atmosphere, and friendly small towns are the foundation on which we can construct a unique and sustainable prosperity.

_To create the kind of future our people want and deserve, we need leaders who can bring us together in open dialog, who know how to listen to all points of view and help us work together to find compromises that meet everyone’s needs. Only by providing the leadership that values diversity and draws on the strengths of all our people will we be able to promote the kind of growth that creates good local jobs and benefits local business and local farmers, promotes the welfare of our children and seniors, and keeps our land, air and water clean and healthy now and in the years to come.
